About the Project

Through this project we connect families in need with generous furniture donors from our community, transforming empty houses into warm homes.This project embodies the true spirit of community helping community — connecting those who have extra with those who have nothing. It’s not just about furniture, it’s about restoring dignity, creating comfort, and fostering hope.

How It Works

Receiving Donations

Community members, businesses, and local partners contact us to donate gently used furniture.
We assess each item to ensure it’s clean, functional, and ready to be reused.
We offer free furniture pickup within Saint Joseph, Stevensville, and Benton Harbor, making the donation process easy and accessible for donors.

Identifying Families in Need

Each time a new donation is received, we consult our Family Registration Database, where families previously registered have described their needs and household situation.
Our team prioritizes families based on urgency, family size, living conditions, and any special circumstances, such as families with young children, elderly members, or those transitioning out of homelessness.

Logistics and Transportation

When available, we count on volunteers with trucks to help collect and deliver the furniture.
When volunteer transportation isn’t possible, we rent a U-Haul truck, funded through donations or proceeds from our thrift shop.
Volunteers assist in loading, transporting, and unloading furniture directly into the family’s home — bringing not just furniture, but a message of care, compassion, and community solidarity.

Fairness and Transparency

Families can request furniture based on their actual needs and available space, ensuring each item goes where it is most needed.
We keep careful records of all donations and deliveries to ensure fair distribution across families.
